Character Name: Mighty the Armadillo
Series: Sonic the Hedgehog (comics)
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point:16/After going off on his own to find his sister
Requested Sponsor: n/a
Entry position (Cadet, SeeD, Instructor, other): Part-time janitor
History: (Wiki link or 400-500 word summary.) As far back as Mighty can remember, he considered his parents to be saints and caring, loving Armadillos. His family life was happy enough for him. Though, in reality, his parents were wanted thieves and criminals. When they were taken to prison and Mighty's baby sister put in an orphanage, young Mighty found himself with no friends or family left. He wandered the world as a bit of a melancholy adventurer until a chance meeting with Knuckles the Echidna and Vector the Crocodile earned him new friends and a trip up to the Floating Island to join Knuckles' Chaotix team.
For years, Mighty was the most laid-back of the team and was overt in how much he cared about his teammates, especially Ray the Flying Squirrel, whom he had saved from a stasis zone in which he and Sonic had lost Ray years prior. The two have been inseparable ever since. Mighty evidently loves Ray like a little brother and is almost always shown next to his side or helping him out. In fact, injuring Ray is Mighty's berserk button. When Ray was zapped seemingly into oblivion by the evil Snively, Eggman's nephew and lackey, Mighty went nuts and nearly tore Snively's giant robot apart limb for limb. He would have destroyed it had he not been zapped himself, only not into oblivion but into a holding cell along with everyone else. The captives all escaped later with the help of Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles.
Sometime later, the reign of the Iron Queen forced Espio to reveal his ninja status and his role as a spy against Knuckles and his friends. During this time, his investigation turned up shocking news for Mighty, after the Iron Queen was defeated. Espio informed Mighty of the fact that his sister was still alive and part of Eggman's army somewhere. So, along with Ray, Mighty set off to find her without his Chaotix friends. Knuckles and the Chaotix have not heard from him since.
Garden History: n/a
Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: Mighty lives up to his name with intense strength that he very rarely uses, and only to help others. He is also agile enough to wall-jump to get to higher places.
Personality: (~300-500 minimum. Generally what we're looking for is things like main personality traits (positive or negative), flaws or expansion on negative personality traits, self-images, motivation/goals, beliefs/values, opinions/attitudes and quirks and mannerisms.)
Mighty is a very chill, warm Armadillo. He has simple desires, but helping others, even with menial tasks, makes him content. He is very aware of his abnormally large amount of strength and rather than let it go to his head, he chooses to only use it sparingly and to help others in need, such as holding up a center beam while Sonic and co. rebuilt their hideout, or in one case, to save a stampeding group of animals from running straight into a section of a forest fire with no other exit, all by pushing over a giant tree to redirect them in the safest direction.
Mighty is very comfortable in his own shell (so to speak), which is why he is the most caring out of his Chaotix teammates. He is secure in his manhood, most likely due to his strength and his pacifistic nature. His emotions can be volatile at times, though. For instance, when Sonic, Mighty, and Ray were attempting to save Fiona Fox from one of Robotnik's experiments, they got teleported to a strange zone (offpanel) and returned relatively quickly, only to find they'd left Ray behind somewhere. Mighty did not take it well. He went into berserker mode and, in a teary-eyed rage, began tearing up Robotnik's research room in grief. In another example, when Espio was revealing to Knuckles that he was initially meant to spy on him rather than be his friend, Mighty backed up Espio's good intentions, only to hear that Espio had found his sister. Suddently aggravated, Mighty stormed off without another word. He was grumpy and short with Ray while packing up to leave until Ray, begging him to stay or let him come to, melted his heart, and Mighty agreed. This example is also an indication of how impulsive Mighty is when his heart dictates his thought process, which happens fairly often, hence his former nomadic lifestyle. Logic has never been Mighty's strong point. Espio was always (one of) the brains in the Chaotix.
Mighty sees nothing wrong with letting his temper or strong emotions get the better of him. His need to avenge his fallen friends can sometimes get very much out of control under extreme circumstances and stress. He considers his pacifist lifestyle the best way to life one's life and can sometimes heatedly disagree with Knuckles' stance on "punching is the best policy." Only rarely, however. The pacifist side kicks in rapidly and he'd rather appease a friend than get into a fight about it. In the case of enemies, this is a completely different story. If they are willing to injure, capture, or kill his friends, Mighty has no qualms about putting his personal opinions aside in order to help them. He flip-flops that way.
If Mighty has been in the same place for too long, he tends to get restless. If Knuckles or one of his other friends require his strength or just any other person to aid them in a mission, he's one of the first to volunteer. He gets satisfaction out of helping others with his gift. Due to his helpful, giving nature, however, being rejected when he offers help can be a tidge upsetting to him. He takes it personally and sulks for a day or so. I rarely gets angry, but he can get downcast not just about being taken for granted, but by any negative event that affects him or his colleagues. It was during those episodes that he'd hide away in his rock cave home before he left to find his sister.
He's not religious, but Mighty does believe in Karma. He always does the best he can, and always attempts to do the right thing, or as right a thing as the situation allows. He keeps calm about the nasty things that happen to good people by gripping to his belief in Karma and that the perpetrators will eventually get what's coming to them. If not, under extreme stress, he will enact that judgment himself, though such an event is very rare.
What are your plans for the character in-game?
To have him be a calm, dutiful janitor that can help students with their problems if need be (or if they can respect him as a janitor enough), and to go adventuring/looking for Ray or Matilda (his younger sister) during his time off. Also, to make better amends with Espio, since they didn't get much of a chance to talk before he and Ray left. If Knuckles and/or co. show up, hopefully to have them interact...somehow, depends on the character.
Anything else?
Mighty's personality has been ALL OVER THE PLACE in the Archie comics and also from what I've read in the Fleetway comics. I'm going with his most recent incarnation in the Archie comics (i.e. Knuckles 26-28, Sonic #175+)

Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.
i) IC Questionnaire (can be found on the application page):
(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)
What do you prefer to be known as? Everyone can call me Mighty. I'm only known as Mighty the Armadillo in introduction situations.
How old are you? 16, almost 17 now!
Do you have any history in combat? Quite a bit, actually. You don't want me to go into detail about every fight, do you?
If so, have you ever killed? N-NO!! No, I'd never harm someone to that extent!! I resent the implication, honestly. Hmph.
i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? I leap right into the project, especially if I have friends to help! Normally I don't need help myself, but helping others makes me happy! Even if it's a traditionally boring task.
ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? Not if I can help it. I'm more passive about those sort of things. I'd much rather have someone with more of a knack for making riling speeches. Like Knuckles! He makes those quite often! ..Mostly.
iii) What role do you take when working in a group? I'm the helper, the lackey if you want to call me that. ;) But seriously, I help any way I can, even if it means not doing anything at all. I just want my friends to succeed.
iv) How talkative are you around other people? Not a chatterbox, but not shy, either. Humble, yes. I don't talk about my adventures unless someone shows interest. I don't gossip because it goes against my beliefs in Karma, and I NEVER talk about my past unless it's absolutely crucial to the topic at hand. Bad memories sting deep.
v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. A desert island? Gee, I'm going to assume that's like Sandopolis Zone, only on Mobius.
1. A mirror. I'd need something to attract the attention of flying vehicles, water vehicles, or even the Floating Island as it passes above me. I wouldn't want to stay on that island forever!
2. A pot for boiling water. I highly doubt I'd have enough water to last me long periods of time there, so being able to purify my own water would be ideal. I mean... that is how ocean water works, right?
3. A knife, for cutting leaves for shelter, cutting bark or fruit for consumption, or cutting branches for firewood. That sort of thing I've actually gotten fairly used to in my adventuring days. No problem for this nomad.
vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? It is to me! I can't much help them or be nice around them if they openly dislike me. If they're of the evil breed, they could even use my friendliness against me and kidnap my closest friends for leverage! I would never want my strength to be exploited, nor would I want my friends to be in danger because of me. The more people I have that like me, the less likely any of that horrible stuff would happen.
vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? That widely depends on the circumstances. If I can take the problem head on without hurting anyone, then yes, it's worth it! If people might be injured, especially the innocent, then no, I'd rather not risk it.
viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? ... I suppose so. Sometimes I can get pretty impassioned and don't think things through as well as I should. Those times are rare, though! I hardly ever let my good sense of logic get, erm, overrun by emotion!
ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Absolutely! Planning is for the brainiacs in the Chaotix, or the council in King Acorn's city. I'm an Armadillo of action, uh... and who knows what you'd miss if life was passing you by while you were busy planning?
x) Do you like surprises? Yes, but ONLY if they're in good fun. I wouldn't want anybody getting hurt over something so petty as a practical joke.
xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? Well... no... sometimes I wonder if I was really meant to have such incredible strength, but then I think about how many good deeds I've done with it and how I don't overuse it or flaunt it at all, and then I feel better.
xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? No, I have full faith in Knuckles and our other group leaders. If they need the brawn, I'm there for them. That's my role in my friendships. The hard-hitting decisions and be made by everyone else.
xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages? Not my favorite, but I'll eat it! I love fruits and vegetables, and all things organic. Have you ever tried Mint leaves? They're good for your stomach and taste great!
ii) Prose sample (can be general or a response to the post's prompt).
"I can't believe this. This is... how could... WHY HAS..."
[The distraught Amradillo holds his head.]
"..Okay, okay Mighty, calm down. Think this through. What happened last night?"
"Nothing! Nothing happened last night before we went to sleep! It's day 8 of Ray's and my expedition to find Matilda, and everything's been peachy so far! We... I... "
[Mighty let's a tear fall from his eye, not bothering to wipe it away.]
"...still have no idea where she is, but I'm getting good feelings,.."
[Mighty smiles to himself, as if trying to assure himself there's hope.]
"..as if we're getting closer. Speaking of getting closer, we're approaching Sandblast City. Sonic says they're untrustworthy, but they can't be that bad, can they? But I digress.
"Wait, wait! We'd go to sleep after dinner side by side next to our dying fire, but... but today... he wasn't there."
[The exhausted armadillo bites his fist in agony as he recites his memories to himself.]
"He wasn't safe and sound next to me, sleeping away and twitching as if he was having a good dream. My little friend! My little... brother!! Gone!! He wouldn't just up and leave without telling me. Something must have happened to him! Oh heavens... what if the evil group that took Matilda came during the night and took Ray, too? But why would they do that? Wouldn't they rather take us both? Do they know of how strong I am? Does Matilda remember? Could she have been here, telling them to leave me be?
"So many questions, ugh! My head hurts! Ray...
[Mighty sniffles, unable to hold back his grief.]
"I promised I'd never let anything happen to you again, and I've failed for the third time!! Why..."
"That does it. Sandblast city is in viewing distance. If they have Ray, Matilda or both, I WILL set them free! I'll tear those houses apart if I have to!!! I will not betray either of them again!!"
